“The quality of your life will be determined by the quality of your contribution. When you work to improve the lives of others, your life improves automatically.” – Kurek Ashley

Supporting neighbors in your community who are facing cancer can have a huge impact not only on their lives, but also on yours.

Founded in 2007 in Rochester NY, Cancer Wellness Connections is an independent grassroots organization funded by individual contributions, sponsorships and grants. Services are provided for over 20,000 people annually at six clinics, which are a part of two separate health systems, regardless of age, gender or diagnosis. We are a registered 501(c)3 and offer our services free of charge to both patients and health systems.

We welcome you to get involved and become part of the Cancer Wellness Connections family:

We have several opportunities for people interested in making a difference. Some of our volunteers spend time in the infusion room passing out books and games, chatting with patients, and bringing bright moments to treatment times. These volunteers must undergo orientation and the clearance process required by the hospital where they will be volunteering. Other volunteers pick up food from restaurant donors and deliver to the infusion clinics – which requires no hospital clearance. For as little as two hours a month you could have a real impact on the life of someone with cancer or chronic illness.

WE NEED YOU! Follow this link for more information.

Your donation has a real and immediate impact. Cancer Wellness Connections touches the lives of some 20,000 people annually who are receiving outpatient chemotherapy treatments for cancer or chronic illness at six different locations through two health systems. Your money is actively enhancing the lives of infants, children, teens, and adults, regardless of age, gender, and diagnosis. Your donation allows us to purchase books, games, and crafts, as well as pay for the services of our professional care partners like massage therapists and Reiki practitioners. As a ‘Push In’ program, we have no office space and minimal overhead – everything goes to the direct care of the people we serve. Even our administrative team is directly involved in patient contact! We are a registered 501(c)3 charitable organization, listed on GuideStar and are a Donor Choice Partner of the United Way of Greater Rochester. Your money stays in Rochester, assisting people in our community at a time of need. Please consider being a regular donor!

Founded in the Gynecologic Oncology Offices of Drs. Angel & DuBeshter, our first fundraising effort was to launch the Ovarian & Gynecologic Cancers 5k. Now in our 12th year, the race remains our largest fundraiser, drawing over 1,000 participants and spectators annually. We aim to raise awareness of often-overlooked cancers that impact women. In the process, we celebrate the lives of women and families whose lives have been indelibly changed by gynecologic cancer. Proceeds benefit Cancer Wellness Connections and the work that we do to help people cope with cancer.

Being a sponsor of the Ovarian & Gynecologic Cancers 5k gets your name in front of a large group of passionate community members and shows you care about the health of your neighbors. Sponsorship opportunities provide multiple marketing touch points to reach a large audience of women underrepresented in traditional cancer outreach programs.

Many people want to give back to our organization to show their appreciation for the comfort they or family and friends received during treatment. Facebook and other social media platforms offer ways to raise funds easily, and we would be honored should you support us that way. Our aim is always to do better and to do more for those in treatment in Rochester. We need your help to meet that goal. Follow this link for more info and tools to start a fundraiser.

Unlike in-patient hospital treatments, lunches are not always available for patients during out-patient care. That adds a burden to people and families that then need to plan to provide, particularly during longer infusions. Cancer Wellness Connections has partnered with numerous restaurants, delis, and bakeries to bring in donated items such as soups, bagels, pastries, sandwiches, and pasta bowls. We make arrangements to pick up and deliver the food to clinics to be distributed to people receiving treatment. It is one of the favorite perks we provide, and families are delighted for the good eats.

Cancer Wellness Connections employs certified professionals with pertinent areas of expertise to provide services for people undergoing treatment. All of our care partners, including personal trainers, massage therapists, Reiki & meditation practitioners, and manicurists all receive stipends for their services. Like our volunteers, our care partners are required to undergo orientation and clearance, following all rules and procedures mandated by the respective health care systems. We are always looking for more care partners to add to our ranks, so if you are a skilled practitioner in any of the skills mentioned, contact us for more information.
