Meet the Moderator

Ben Coleman

Book Club Moderator

Ben Coleman taught high school English for seven years in Nashville before recently returning to Rochester with his wife and two dogs. His favorite author is Haruki Murakami, his favorite band is Radiohead, and his favorite food is sushi. In his free time, he writes poetry, plays music, creates digital art, and runs an Instagram page where he posts riddles weekly (@riddlesbybenny).

Where the Crawdads Sing, a 2018 American coming-of-age murder mystery novel by American author Delia Owens. The story follows two timelines that slowly intertwine. The first timeline describes the life and adventures of a young girl named Kya as she grows up isolated in the marshes of North Carolina. The second timeline follows an investigation into the apparent murder of Chase Andrews, a local celebrity of Barkley Cove, a fictional coastal town of North Carolina.

This FREE group program is for people at varying stages of gynecologic cancer treatment who would like to work toward improving their sexual experience. Topics include:

  • sexual health education specific to cancer survivors
  • relaxation training
  • cultivating self-compassion
  • improving & healing the relationship with the physical body

Sexual Wellness During & After
Gynecologic Cancers

A free virtual group program

Changes in sexual experience are extremely common during and after a cancer diagnosis and treatment. This group is intended for people at varying stages of gynecologic cancer treatment who would like to work toward improving their sexual experience. The group content will focus on topics such as sexual health education specific to cancer survivors, relaxation training, cultivating self-compassion and improving and healing the relationship with the physical body. The group intervention is modeled after the work of experts in the fields of sex and cancer as well as mindful self-compassion. Participants will be provided with educational materials on options for vaginal health and comfort, dilators, sexual health resources and relaxation techniques.

Led by Dr. Pebble Kranz, MD FECSM, a sexual medicine specialist who focuses on the sexual concerns of cancer survivors, and Jessica Janik, LPMFT, a sex and relationship therapist. The group will be held online. To enroll please call 585-865-3584 or email info@rochestercenterforsexualwellness.com.
